Eva opened her eyes, gasping for air. Everything in front of her was a haze. Her vision seemed blurry. She tried concentrating on her surroundings but felt disoriented. Pulsating beats from her heart felt as though they would push through the walls of her chest. Beads of sweat popped on her forehead as sharp stabbing pains shot up in her head. She lifted her head, but the shooting pain in her abdomen made her yelp. Raising her hand, she looked carefully, and that is when her vision started to return. Again she tried to get up, placing a hand on her stomach from where the intense originated but surrendered her efforts when she couldn't find the energy to move her body. She looked around the room and could figure out that she was in the castle's healing quarters. Next to her bed, she saw a small table that had a glass of water on it and instantly felt the urge to wet her throat.

How long have I been here?

She extended her shaky arm but knocked the glass from the table beside her bed.

“Oh! You are awake," she heard a man's voice, and her eyes surveyed the room. The man came from another room and stood in front of her. Eva tried to recall but couldn’t recognize the man.

“Where am I,” she asked nervously.

“You are in the healing chambers of the castle,” he said carefully, "You were injured, but you are fine now.” He sighed with relief.

She looked at the man in confusion for a few seconds and then tried to get up again.

“Easy, your wounds have healed, but you shouldn’t move so fast,” he said with caution as he came near Eva.

“Then help me get up,” she replied, feeling annoyed.

Once, he helped Eva in a sitting position. He went outside and returned with Edris by his side.

“Eva, I am so happy you are alright,” Edris came running to her.

Seeing him, Eva felt a bit relaxed in the foreign place she was in.

He stood by Eva and held her hand. “We thought we lost you, but here you are, the fighter I know.”

Eva smiled and asked, “Edris, what happened to me?”

Seeing Eva settled, the man who was her healer stepped in.

“Eva, I am Danial. Do you remember what happened to you?” He asked her gently, now standing next to her bed.

Eva exchanged glances with Edris and tried to recall. The memory filled her eyes with a tear.

“I remember the blood, seeing blood on my clothes and hands. I saw Meddis running away. And then everything went dark.” She was now crying, holding on to Edris while his hand rested on her shoulder.

Danial nodded but pressed his lips together hard. Eva stared at him, trying to recall once again where she had seen him, and then it hit her.

“She has lost too much blood; we need to get her to the healing chambers now! She remembered seeing his face from the flashes of light hitting her eyes. But it was all in fragments.
